"Conservation in Color" - Tom Turkey Watercolor Painting

Conservation in Color is a 27"x33" watercolor painting done on 100% cotton paper & stretched over a wooden stretching frame.  High-quality pigments were used, and I always wax my originals so that the painting is protected without the need for glass.

Painting has been framed in a gorgeous, handmade frame.

I painted "Conservation in Color" in 2025, and it is my first attempt at painting (or even learning about) the beautiful Tom Turkey. 

A painting of this size generally takes me three to four attempts, and this one was no exception!  While he was challenging, his personality & characteristics proved fascinating reasons to thoroughly enjoy painting this beautiful work of God's creation.

I love his vibrant colors & the details in his face, and I did my best to capture both his beauty & his quirks.

Conservation in Color is a tribute to the resilience and beauty of the Tom Turkey, as well as the work done to preserve the habitat that affects both him and all other wildlife that fall under that protective wing.
